This configuration page allows you to set up general application properties. All properties are organized in the tree and can be either Boolean (on/off), selectable (one of) or numeric.
Notifications Group
This group contains the flags controlling the appearance of different notification windows.
- Session Configuration

This notification window displayed when the Session Configuration window appears.
- Auto start recording
- This notification window tells you how and when to use the Auto Start Recording command.
- Currently Recording
- This notification window reminds you that the current monitoring session is being recorded.
- Not currently recording
- This notification window notifies you that the current monitoring session is not currently being recorded.
- Continue playback
- This notification window tells you what to do to continue the paused log file playback.
- Statistics static line

Tells you how to place a static and tracking line in Statistics visualizer.
- Next Connected Device (USB)

This notification window briefly describes what to do to start a "Next Connected Device" USB monitoring session.
- The session is still running
- This notification window warns you that the session, for which you closed the last visualizer, is still running.
- Getting started (USB)
- This notification window tells you what to do to start monitoring USB device.
Recording Group
This group contains options, specific to the session recording.
- Show "Recording Stream Name" dialog only when Ctrl is pressed

This option controls whether the Recording Stream Name dialog appears when the user chooses the Tools|Start/Stop Recording command. If it is OFF, the dialog always appears, if it is ON, the dialog appears only if the Ctrl key is pressed
Log File Playback Group
This group contains options related to the Log File Playback Source.
- Playback session sorting

Select either "Sort by date" or "Sort by name" item to specify Playback Tool Window sorting.
Statistics Group
This group contains options related to Statistics visualizer.
- Display sample indices on X-axis
- Check this option to display the sample ordinal number on X-axis. Packet number and packet time are always displayed.
General Group
This section contains general application configuration options.
- Check for updates
- You can configure the Device Monitoring Studio to automatically check for product updates. When an update is available, it will ask you if you want to download and install it. You can also check for updates manually, using the Help|Check for Updates... menu option. The product uses about 100 bytes of network traffic each time it checks for an update.
- Foreground downloading
- Check this option to make downloads faster. When unchecked, the Device Monitoring Studio downloads tasks in background, consuming the network traffic not used by other applications. If you want downloads to be delivered faster, enable this option. It can also be controlled through the Tools|Foreground Downloading menu option.
- Display splash screen on startup
- Check to make the application display the splash screen on startup. The splash screen shows which modules are installed and the name the product is registered to.
- Smart sort data processor list

When this option is checked, the Data Processors and Visualizers are sorted in the Session Configuration window. They are sorted according that the most recently used items are moved towards the top of the list.
- Animate visualizers
- Enable or disable visualizers animation in Session Configuration window.
- Save tools configurations with workspace

When enabled, the tool windows configuration is saved when you save a workspace.
- Close affects the current tool window only

When enabled and you click the Close button in any tool window frame, only the current tool window is closed. Otherwise, the entire frame is closed.
- Restore main window position on startup
- Check to automatically restore the main application window position next time the program is started.
- Ask to save modified workspace
- When enabled, the product will ask you if you want to save the modified workspace.
- Stop Monitoring command affects all monitoring sessions

When enabled, the Tools|Stop Monitoring command will close all opened monitoring sessions, otherwise, only the current one.
- Last recently used workspaces to display: NN

Specify the number of workspaces to store in the File menu.
- Display notification window for NN seconds

Specify the number of seconds the notification window is displayed.
- Disable High-Speed mode
- Prevents the Device Monitoring Studio from entering into the special high-speed mode of operation.
