Data logging allows you to capture all (or part) monitored data to the disk file for subsequent analysis. This section tells you how to create log files. The Playback Tool Window section tells you how to play back previously recorded log files. The Tools|Settings, Recording Tab section offers the Data Recording configuration options.
Every single log file consists of several streams. Each time you start a monitoring session, new log file is created for it (provided the Auto Start Recording option is turned on. When you subsequently stop recording and restart it (without closing the monitoring session), new stream is created. So, at the end, you have single file for each monitoring session with one or more streams in it.
Each log stream can have its own name, allowing you to easily distinguish between different monitoring sessions. You are asked for a log stream name each time you start new recording with the Tools|Start/Stop Recording command. If the recording starts automatically, the stream will get its default name.
If you want to record every new monitoring session, turn the Auto Start Recording option on. Each time the monitoring session is created, new log file is created and data recording starts.
If you want, you can start or stop data recording at any time by using the Tools|Start/Stop Recording command.
Several recording options are configured in Tools|Settings, Recording Tab.
