This section describes the USB configuration window.

Active USB Devices

The USB configuration window displays the list of active USB devices. The list is automatically updated as you connect or disconnect USB devices. For each device, its friendly name (or description, whichever provided by the system), location information and manufacturer name are displayed. All devices are grouped according to the reported device class.

To create a new monitoring session or change the properties of the existing one, click on the device with the left mouse button. You can also navigate to the item using the keyboard.

After you click the item, the Session Configuration window appears. Use it to configure new or update the existing monitoring session.

For devices for which you have active monitoring sessions the "active" icon is displayed.

Next Connected Device Special Item

The very first item in the list is a "Next Connected Device" item. You can use it to instruct the USB Monitoring module to attach to the next USB device plugged to the system. After you create a monitoring session for the next connected device, the program will wait for you to plug in the device you are going to monitor. The monitoring of the connected will start immediately, from the early PnP Manager's requests.

Device Context Menu

To access the device context menu, click the right mouse button. The context menu for the device allows you to restart it, view its properties or close the current monitoring session. The context menu also lists all dependent devices.

When you move your mouse over one of the dependent devices in a context menu, another context menu pops up, allowing you to restart this device, view its properties and so on. Similar functionality is offered in the Dependent Devices tool window.

Non-present Devices

Normally, this window does not display non-present devices in the list, but, if you disconnect a device while having a monitoring session for it, the device becomes gray in the list. If you then re-plug the same device (into the same USB port), the device becomes active again. If you stop the monitoring session for the non-present device, it disappears from the list.
